The best Japanese food in Seattle and the staff are so friendly. Maneki has so much history and you can tell the care they put into their food and service. I hope they survive for another 100 years.

One of the best sushi restaurants that I have ever eaten at. Definitely the best sashimi that I have ever eaten. The service was absolutely outstanding, and the atmosphere had a very traditional Japanese vibe to it, very casual and low key, but in a good way. Can't wait to visit Seattle again so that I can eat here again

Very old, historic, authentic and traditional Japanese restaurant. You have to reserve through text first to ensure your spot. I love their eel rice, it takes 30-40 mins to cook. And all the other dishes are great. They have great service and very home like feelings. Parking: street parking or at the back of this restaurant building, there is a public parking lot, or you can park at the Japanese supermarket and shopping for 20 dollars for 2 hours’ free parking.

one of my favorite japanese restaurants of all time. also happens to be the oldest japanese restaurant in seattle and i believe one of the oldest in the united states. if you come with a party large enough (make sure you reserve in advance), they will put you in a tatami room. i always bring out of town friends and family here. absolutely phenomenal food, there is not a bad dish on this menu. my favorite is the black cod collar miso. everything is authentic and feels like i'm having a home meal.

Dinner was absolutely incredible! So fresh and so flavorful. I’d seen many reviews mention the black cod collar so of course I had to see what all the hype was about and WOW! So buttery and creamy, the first bite literally melted in my mouth and I was in love. I would also recommend the salmon nanban (I believe that is what it was called), a delicious cold dish perfect for sharing. Service was also very lovely, our waitress was sweet and friendly and also had great taste in music. I would say this was an affordable dinner, especially considering the quality of the dishes. We cannot wait to return!

Exceeded expectations in every way. We got the Tatami room and they were so nice even while making the reservations. The food was amazing and we all left very full at a great price. Would recommend to anybody considering this place.

Some of the tastiest non-sushi Japanese food I’ve had in many years. Everything looks prepared with care but still has that casual eatery vibe. The fried eggplants with miso sauce is the best of the night, and the miso grilled black cod collar is to die for. Definitely coming back for other dishes

You can make reservations via text and they will text you back, it took a day for a response. They book up quickly, so plan in advance to get a time slot. Black miso cod was the best dish. Smooth tasty, slightly charred deliciousness.

For first impression, I found the interior of the restaurant very nice. They had a regular dining area, bar and even traditional Japanese rooms! I had ordered tonkatsu and decided to give the potato croquette a try as well. The tonkatsu had the right amount of crisp and the amount given is generous every time. As for the potato croquette, the exterior was crunchy and the filling is delicious. I will be back for sure!
